The Parable

A man laboured from his childhood to sponsor his own education and training, from the primary to the university level. He managed to do any kind of humiliating job to earn wages, which he saved used to pay his school fees. At last, he became a university graduates, then a master degree holder and eventually a professor.

In his own kindness, he offered to help the youths of his city to get educated, and offered to hold classes for them, so that they shall not suffer as much he had. On the day of the commencement of the class, he arrived early to the venue, only to find no student ready and sitting for lessons. The class was very dirty and littered with refuse left behind, by wedding ceremony.

Being a patient and humble man, he decided to wait for some time, since the lessons had being announced several times, all over the city, in the last one year, inviting the youths to come for free education and training. After waiting for about six hours, three youths came into the classroom one after the other.

The man asked the first youth, “Where is your friend, who supposed to be in this classroom with you by now?”

The youth replied, “I went to their house this mooring, and I was told that he traveled yesterday, and he will not come back until after ten years.”

To the second youth, he asked, “Why is your friend not yet here by now?” and the second youth answered, “On my way to this place this morning, I visited their house to remind him of this lesson, but he said that he was not coming. He had not even taken his morning bath and was busy in their backyard playing with the animals.”

The professor turned to the third youth and asked, “I saw you and your friend yesterday evening, why is he not yet here?”

The third youth responded, “He said he is not interested in this education and training, answer was going on a travel with his bag.”

The mean was uttered disappointed. And he turned to the three youths inside the classroom. To the first youth he asked, “Why are you not well dressed for school this morning?” and the first youth replied, “I did not come to school. I was just passing but decided to come in here to see what is happening. Very soon, I shall be on my way to the jungles.”

He turned to second youth, who was still standing at the door and peeping in, and asked, “What are you still standing at the door and peeping in? Won’t you come in?” The second youth replied. “I was just passing by, when I noticed some people inside here. I just came to see what is happening. And since the other youths are not there, I will not attend the class.”

When he asked the third youth, was standing beside a window and often looking out as if waiting for somebody, the youth replied, “I have not even taken my bath, and I will still go home to bath, eat and rest before I will go to the market to buy things for our masquerade.”

And so it happened that they soon left the classroom and left the professor behind alone. Out of his disappointment, the learned man went home and decided to go back to the city where he is paid a very large amount of salary with many benefits. And so it happened that the youths of the community remained illiterates and dunces all through their lives, because they failed to make good use of a golden opportunity.

Even so are the children of God, which refuse to study Yahweh's Book Of Life and learn Spiritual Science.
